ScrapPink and Holidays

The first week of the holidays has passed and it rained most days. The boys went to holiday club at BigAir gym on Tuesday morning and had lots of fun and they're going back again tomorrow. They've baked cakes most days too so we've also been eating lots of cake! The rest of the time they have played quite happily together on the PSP, PS2 or cards or watched TV. It is so pleasant when they don't bicker.

ScrapPink was yesterday and it was great fun. Forty ladies packed KiwiScraps and scrapped all day. I did four single l/os and one double one. One of the l/os was a challenge at the ScrapPink online crop we had on Friday night.

The Weekend

I got a chest infection last week and I felt really sick - I even went to the doctor and she prescribed antibiotics! I don't know when last I had any antibiotics. Anyway, I'm feeling much better now. We had a quiet weekend because I wasn't feeling well but we did go out to a party on Saturday night. We got there about 5pm and there were lots of mums/moms with littlies.

We had a drink and were standing chatting and this lady comes up to me: "Are those your big boys out there?"

Me: thinking what have they done? "Yeeees" I said tentativley

Lady: "I want to tell you what fantastic boys they are! They've been playing with my little boys (around a year old) and playing with him so nicley, making sure he comes to no harm. If you want to lend them to me for a few hours, I'll pay them to look after my baby"

Now I know they're pretty good boys but this was just marvelous! I was so proud of them! And they want to go and play with the baby in the holidays ... "and we don't even want the pay," they said, "it was just fun playing with him!"

ScrapPink

Only two weeks to go to this wonderful event! If you live in New Zealand and haven't yet signed up, I would like to encourage you to find a crop near you and go along for a fun day. There are lots of fun activities planned as well as a great raffle for some really good prizes. Tickets will cost $3 each or 4 for $10. The prize line-up is solid… a Xyron Design Runner & Cartridge, 4 Cuttlebugs, 3 Sizzix/Ellison Design Tag-a-Longs with Sizzlits Alphabet Sets, 2 Tag-a-Long Starter Kits and several smaller prizes. You do not have to attend a ScrapPink event to purchase some raffle tickets - you can buy some from any of the organisers, KiwiScraps or myself.

There will be lots of great product to buy (some proceeds to Breast Cancer Research in NZ), make 'n" takes, games, projects and of course a "pink pack" for a LOTD prize. Further, all LOTDs will be entered in the national competition. And for those in my Paper, Scissors, Crop group there will be a fun prize draw for just creating a "pink" l/o (as usual).

So, find yourself a crop to attend - there is even an online one at Scrapbook Outlet and have fun while supporting a very worthy cause

Daffodil Express

Today we went on the Daffodil Express, a steam train to Carterton. On arrival at Carterton, we caught shuttle busses to the daffodil fields where we could pick up to 2 dozen daffodils each for the princely sum of $4! We came home with lots. The boys loved picking the flowers and kept asking me to take their photos ........ this from boys who usually don't want their photos taken! We then wandered through the town as there was also a big fair on and had lunch at the Turkish restaurant - very yummy! AFter lunch we walked round a bit more and then headed back to the train to take photos of the engine. The boys also had a go on a very old jigger.

Adult Leaners' Week

This week in New Zealand is Adult Learners' Week. There is a static display of learners' work down at the library; today there were demonstrations and more static displays at North City Plaza (I spent two hours there doing a couple of scrapbooking pages) and tonight was the Awards evening. Thanks to three of my wonderful past learners, I won an Exceptional Adult Educator Commedation!

Yes, I am pleased and so my heartfelt thanks to Yvonne, Jacqui and Helen for your very kind words about me. For those of you who don't know, I have been teaching scrapbooking classes at the Adult Education College for the last two years and it was three of my great new scrappers who nominated me.
